Adarve attends Telfa General Meeting in Cyprus

Telfa, the Trans-European Law Firms Alliance to which Adarve belongs, gathered representatives from its 27 members in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Belén Berlanga, Partner in the Corporate Law Department and Laura Fauqueur, Marketing Director, attended the event on behalf of Adarve. All the attendees, along with many of their clients, participated to several seminars during which the Cyprus Finance Minister and other local experts detailed the benefits, challenges and opportunities of investing in Cyprus.

Telfa and Uslaw lawyers have also had the chance to share several industry meetings and specialization meetings, with the aim to progress in the joint works that are carried out by the alliance as a whole, and to update each other on the evolution of their specific fields of specialization in the different countries.

The Partners’ General Meeting was followed but a series of debates, group workshops and internal trainings, as well as speeches from external consultants, members from the Alliance, and its chairman Richard Isham, a partner at Wedlake Bell (UK member firm) who detailed the achievements and some insights of the Alliance and its members.

According to Belén Berlanga, “These meetings are very much needed to create and cultivate trust between the different members of the alliance. When you want to refer one of your clients to another firm in another jurisdiction, you must be completely sure that they will treat him/her as well as you do. Apart from the quality standards and obligations imposed by the alliance, it is also important to have a personal relationship with the rest of our colleagues in the other countries.”

The next General Assembly will take place in Sweden in fall, and it will be hosted by the firm Wesslau Söderqvist.
